The hero-zero pendulum and crisis addiction that you talk about certainly is common among programmers, but I&#039;ve seen it among people in many other professions as well, especially among &quot;high achievers&quot;.  It may even be a general dysfunction of our culture.

I know we programmers like to think we are special ;-), but I think most of what you talk about here would benefit the work world in general.</description>
